Rev. Bruce Beisner

Rev. Bruce Beisner says “My call to ministry comes from a desire to serve the needs of a covenanted religious community and its people, seeking to hold up its vision and values. I am a steward of church tradition who works to advance beloved community. I enjoy working collaboratively to create new growth, build community engagement, and deepen spiritual connections.” Bruce is a graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School and was ordained in 2012 and granted fellowship by our Unitarian Universalist Association in 2015. Before coming to All Peoples, he served churches in Cincinnati, Ohio and Houston, Texas. Bruce leads most of our Sunday services, presents regular Religious Exploration classes, offers pastoral care, and works closely with our church staff, committees, and leadership. Van Hurst

Van Hurst

Van holds degrees in religious studies and natural health. Most recently, she worked for several years at The Merton Institute overseeing budget and communications, retreat planning, and a variety of duties. Van has a background in small business management, life coaching/spiritual direction, fund development, and public relations and communications — and she is a published author!  As the church reopens, stop in the office and meet Van.

Bookkeeper

Michael Purintun

Michael currently is the Treasurer for Mid-Kentucky Presbytery, and a bookkeeper for several local churches and community ministries, including All Peoples and First Unitarian. A former employee of the National Presbyterian Church (USA), Michael has experience as an editor and educator, as well as his newer career in bookkeeping. When not working, Michael sings locally with several choirs, and has performed with the Kentucky Opera, Music Theater of Louisville, and the Gilbert & Sullivan Society.

Brody Brennick

Brody is a Louisville native. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Film from Western Kentucky University, He is currently a freelance videographer and music video director. Brody has worked with clients, such as JCPS and author Jan Richardson.

Janet comes to us from Atlanta, Ga. where she worked in healthcare as an R.N. in direct patient care, programming and community development. She is here at All Peoples to discover what will make involvement in our faith community more meaningful. Barbara Friedland

Barb has been directing lifespan learning at All Peoples since the fall of 2011, and previously directed programs for children and youth for five years. Her work helps deepen connections among all ages and supports each person’s search for individual truth and meaning in a community of diverse people. Barb is particularly passionate about Family Ministry. She can answer your questions about spiritual development for all ages – including adults. Rus Funk

Rus Ervin Funk, is a long-time justice activist and organizer — primarily focusing on racial and gender justice. He has organized efforts throughout the United States and in various other countries. He is co-founder, for example of the People’s Coalition for Justice (in Washington, DC), the Washington Area Clinic Defense Task Force, Men for Gender Justice (in Malta), and the North American MenEngage Network among many others. His is grounded in intersectional practice, and focuses on advancing a human rights framework. Rus is also an active author. In 1993, he published the first book by a man, for men about stopping rape (Stopping Rape:  A challenger for men) and has written widely since then.

Rus enjoys photography, gardening, hiking and camping, baking; and lives in the Highlands neighborhood with his partner Amy, their child Kiernan, and a cat, “Appa” who belongs to himself.  Contact: justicecenter@allpeoplesuu.com

Dr. Katie Calcamuggio Donner

Katie is an award-winning mezzo-soprano. She has been featured in important role and company debuts across the United States, eliciting kudos for her “soaring, rich voice” (The Miami Herald), her “polished musical and dramatic characterizations” (Kurt Weill Newsletter) and her “fine coloratura technique” (Philadelphia Inquirer).

Katie received her DMA from University of Michigan a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Bowling Green State University. and is currently an Assistant Professor of Voice at University of Louisville.  Contact: music@allpeoplesuu.com 

Dr. Chris Brody

Instrumentalist

Dr. Chris Brody

Chris Brody is an Assistant Professor of Music Theory at the University of Louisville, where he has taught since 2017. As a pianist, he often performs in collaboration with U of L students and colleagues, and also with local professionals as a member of the NouLou Chamber Players. He and his wife Alissa have a 1-year-old son named Elijah.
