KENTUCKY NEWS

This week House Republicans vote to slash health care and food assistance for hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians.

  • Nearly 1.5 million Kentuckians currently rely on Medicaid, including 44% of births, 16,650 nursing home residents, and one in five seniors.

  • SNAP helps feed over 280,000 Kentucky households, including nearly 225,000 children.

The administration is forcing Kentucky seniors onto X, Elon Musk’s far-right social media platform, for vital Social Security information shutting out Kentucky seniors who depend on traditional communications.

Kentucky bourbon exports, auto manufacturing, and agriculture face severe damage from retaliatory tariffs and trade wars.

Our small businesses are bracing for higher costs and supply chain disruptions.

Congressman Thomas Massie voted against Trump’s budget not because it hurts Kentucky families, but because it doesn’t cut federal programs enough.

His job description says he ”works tirelessly to boost government transparency and accountability.” Yet Congressman James Comer taken no action on Signalgate, one of the worst national security breaches in recent memory. And he’s chairman of the House Oversight Committee!

Calls to Action

FEDERAL

Call MitchMcConnell and Rand Paul and tell them:

TO OPPOSE HB22, the SAVE Act, which is an attempt at mass disenfranchisement, disguised as an election integrity bill, requiring every voter to show proof of citizenship bearing their current name when registering to vote. This would end online and mail-in voter registration. It means showing a certified birth certificate or valid U.S. passport and a government-issued photo ID. The last name on the birth certificate must match the person’s current name.

TO REINSTATE the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program. These programs give schools and food banks money to buy food from local farms and ranchers, money that schools and child care facilities are counting on. These programs have been canceled and need to be reinstated.

TO STAND UP to executive overreach. End the emergency.  Vote yes on privileged resolutions to end the emergency or block the tariffs. Use your platform to oppose Trump’s abuse of power.

TO OPPOSE the Trump Administration’s elimination of Head Start and AmeriCorps, a civilian community service project that responds to disasters and helps nonprofits.

TO RETURN Kilmar Abrego Garcia and the other people who were deported to El Salvador without due process. Make sure they see this as a core civil liberties issue. This is a look into a future where people can be disappeared because Trump says so, where due process also disappears, where law disappears.

Call Mitch McConnell and tell him:

TO OPPOSE the deceptively named National Right to Work Act, proposed by Senator Rand Paul. These laws would weaken unions, suppress wages, and strip workers of their power. Destroying unions gives move power to corporations.  Stronger unions lead to benefits for all workers. They set higher standards for wages, benefits, and safety regulations. If this bill becomes law, every worker in America will be affected.

Call Rand Paul and tell him:

YOU ARE OPPOSED TO his defense of Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education.

Call Morgan McGarvey and tell him:

TO RETURN Kilmar Abrego Garcia and the other people who were deported to El Salvador without due process. Make sure they see this as a core civil liberties issue. This is a look into a future where people can be disappeared because Trump says so, where due process also disappears, where law disappears.

TO STOP Trump’s emergency tariff power grab. File the Resolution. Force votes on privileged resolutions to end the April 2 national emergency declaration to block the tariffs. Launch discharge petitions for resolutions that Republicans try to block with procedural shenanigans. Call out Republicans who don’t sign on.

TO OPPOSE the elimination of Head Start and AmeriCorps.

YOU APPRECIATE his responsiveness to his constituents.
