Indivisible’s Vision:
A real democracy- of, by, and for the people.

GOOD TROUBLE LIVES ON…
Join us on Thursday, July 17th from 4:30 – 7pm
Join us for the Human Chain starting at the
Federal Building on 6th Street @ Broadway
for some “Good Trouble”.
Bring Your Signs, Bring Your Voices
Our Congregation is supporting a national rally this Thursday July 17th starting at 4:30-7PM. It’s called “Good Trouble”- a John Lewis tribute and voting rights protest. It’s now posted on our Facebook page to share with others.
“We won’t be walking at this event. This protest consists of lining up rally supporters from all over the city to stand in place and hold OUR PEACEFUL PROTEST signs demanding Voting Rights equality along with our other justice messages. HOW FAR CAN WE STRETCH OUR “GOOD TROUBLE” EAST AND WEST ON BROADWAY?”
With the ongoing attack on democracy, our goal is to bring people together with their Representatives and call on Congress to pass national voting rights legislation such as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, the Native American Voting Rights Act and DC Statehood.
We need carpool drivers! Whoever can help carpool, please contact Ellen Wade, so she knows who to count on. The carpools will leave our church this Thursday at 3:45pm to get a good parking spot and walk to our meeting place.
We will meet on the northwest corner of 6th and Broadway at 4:20pm. Stay for coffee hour to help make protest signs! Children are welcome to help make signs with their parents!

Here in Kentucky
Here’s what the Big Beautiful Budget would affect Kentucky:
-
Take away Medicaid coverage for hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians – Put at least 35 rural Kentucky hospitals at risk of closure, making medical care further out of reach when minutes matter most.
-
Make it harder to get SNAP/food stamp benefits, putting 135,000 Kentuckians at risk of food insecurity.
-
End the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) program, which helps thousands of KY families keep the lights and heat on when they need it most.
-
Cut funding for programs that make clean energy affordable for rural communities, like Rural Energy Savings Program(RESP) and Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
-
Rollback Inflation Reduction Act investments that Kentuckians and utilities could use to lower our energy bills, like Solar for All.
-
Institute additional tax breaks for the wealthy through a dollar-for-dollar scheme for school vouchers (ECCA), up to $10 billion over 4 years. (from Kentuckians for the Commonwealth)

-
Mitch McConnell just told 1.4 MILLION Kentuckians on Medicaid to
“get over it” when they lose their health care.
-
The Republican Party of Kentucky does not care about the lives of the people in our Commonwealth. Kentucky Democrats always will.
-
Under the Trump administration’s broader march against diversity, equity, and inclusion, the EPA has sought to ax funding for the EPA’s Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grant Program designed to provide funding to local organizations and governments to mitigate health risks from extreme heat, wildfires, air pollution and other environmental threats in disadvantaged communities. At least $1.5 million has been terminated in Louisville so far, along with more throughout the Ohio River Valley. (from the Courier-Journal)
The Trump administration’s proposed elimination of the Legal Services Corporation would have devastating effects on residents of Louisville and Legal Aid Society’s fifteen county service area. Legal Aid Society has been providing critical civil legal assistance to the community for over a century, and currently 30% of its funding comes from LSC.
Eastern Kentucky attorney, Ned Pillersdorf, says he’s planning to run for the 5th Congressional District seat now held by Republican Hal Rogers.
Did you know that the Kentucky Hospital Association supports the House version of the “Big, Beautiful Bill”? However, they say the Senate Medicaid cuts are a bridge too far.

If You Live in a Republican House District
Flood the phones. Tell your representative that a vote for this bill is a vote to destroy lives — and you’ll remember it. Then, send an email to drive home the point.
Fight back with friends. We’re stronger together, so encourage your friends and family to take action to stop the cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Sign up and get access to Empower, an app that has everything you need to text your circle about the Republican tax scam: ready-to-use scripts and messages with links they can use to call their own Members of Congress.
Help spread the word about what’s in this bill using our social toolkit. When people know what’s in the bill, they overwhelmingly oppose it — but a lot of people still aren’t aware of the details. You can help change that.
Forward this email. Five texts. One group chat. You never know who’s in a swing district until you ask.

If You Don’t Live in a Republican District
Call folks whose GOP representatives are flippable. If you can spare 1-2 hours for the fight, join a phonebank to call people in vulnerable Republican districts, sound the alarm about this bill, and patch them through to let their GOP representative have it. Anyone can join a phonebank; you just need a phone and a computer.

We already changed the trajectory of this fight in the Senate. We may have come up a vote short, but all the pressure we’ve built is now being felt by the House.
Will we win? I don’t know.
But this is what movements do. We rise when they expect us to fold. We organize through the setbacks. And we win the fights they say are impossible — because we refuse to give up.
You ready?
Let’s finish what we started.
