“I was raised as the oldest child of a photographer who was also an atomic engineer who first worked on the atomic bomb. His family accompanied him everywhere, throughout all the states in the United States, and around the world, as we moved frequently. My travel experiences taught me the universality of experience and this is what I depict: the beauty that I see in this world. I try to show everyone the incredible depth of reality, with its humor and irony, the poignant and the complex in the world that I see, shown how I see it, through my eyes.”
Jill Baker travels the world and has studied under the masters. She graduated with a B.A. from Baylor University, attended the Academia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy and earned a M.F.A. from Pratt Institute. She also did graduate work at Florida State University, University of Southern California and Columbia University. She is a member and officer in art organizations, having been President of the 500-member Los Angeles Artists Equity Association, and has received awards, fellowships and grants. She has worked doing art with Institutional Investor, Golden Books, Vanderbilt University and taught art at colleges, including the University of Southern Indiana.
