Edna Campbell celebration of life

Edna Campbell, known lovingly by many as “Gibby”, daughter of George and Edna Rixman, adoptive daughter of Wayne and Lilymay Storms, was born onEdna Campbell celebration of life November 1, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky. She married her beloved husband, Albert (“Hugh”) Campbell, on September 30, 1959, on his 24th birthday. Together they built a beautiful home and life and were happily married for 67 years.

Edna worked for AT&T for 15 years while raising her three children. She also served on a PTA board, was a traveling soccer mom, and milked 13 dairy goats twice each day to provide milk for her children, who were allergic to cow’s milk.

Edna was a basket weaver for more than 40 years and combined her love of weaving with her passion for volunteering for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. Edna once coordinated the creation and donation of 80 baskets for attendees at a Susan G. Komen kickoff dinner.

Edna became one of the foremost bra fitters in the southeast region, becoming a corporate lingerie executive employee. Using her work experience, she provided fittings at James Graham Brown Cancer Center, volunteering for 28 years to help women with breast cancer fittings and education programs. She was awarded the Bell Award for her volunteerism, and Governor Steve Beshear appointed Edna to serve on the State Breast Cancer Advisory Committee. As breast cancer survivor herself, and even after losing her son following a 9-year cancer journey, she faced life’s greatest challenges with faith, positivity, and grace.

Edna’s radiant smile, her kindness, vivacious spirit and passion for life and for helping others brought much joy to countless lives she touched. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, and she was loved and adored by many. She traveled far and wide and was able to see some of the world’s most famous sights. Her life was as beautiful and bright as the flowers she loved, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

On Friday, July 3, 2026, she departed from this life peacefully and surrounded by love at her cherished home in Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her son, Albert (“Hughie”) Campbell and her sister, Margaret West.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished and remembered in the lives of her husband, Albert (“Hugh”) Campbell; her children Tonya Coleman and Troy Campbell; her siblings Rick Rixman, Ella Bruner and Joanne Williams; her grandchildren Kelsey Coleman, Audrey Coleman, Thomas Campbell, Bella Campbell, and Caleb Campbell; her grandson-in-law Jason Felice; her longtime friend, Juda Maria Hellmann; and a host of devoted family members, friends, and loved ones.

A devoted member of All Peoples, a Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Edna found great joy and purpose in her faith and her church. A Celebration of Life honoring her remarkable life will be held on July 26, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at All Peoples in Louisville, KY.

Edna would like for everyone to wear bright, beautiful colors to celebrate her life that day.
