These are challenging times! We face a nearly daily onslaught of more horrors from the administration — few of which have easy or accessible ways to respond. We also face an upcoming legislative session that promises to offer more harms to our vulnerable neighbors.

I’ve had several conversations with folx both at demonstrations and elsewhere who are also expressing frustration at the protests. I’m experiencing and feeling a growing sense that these protests are only invitations to come and be outrage — with little hope and few solutions offered (“solutions” meaning what we can do).

In other spaces, I experience what we can do! We may not be able to do much here in Louisville to respond to executive orders, but we can be in community and in solidarity with our neighbors. There are efforts led by VOCAL, KY to invite us to wrap our collective arms around the homeless and unhoused in ways that help be of support. The Community Defense Network provides ways to be meaningfully engaged to stop the harming to our immigrant neighbors. The growing Interfaith Network in support of Trans Folx, facilitated by the Justice Center is looking to provide accessible ways that we can meaningfully support our Trans family.

A solution to these challenging times is to be in community, and take action in solidarity with those who are most threatenened.
