KUUJAN updates
Dear friends, members, and supporters of KUUJAN.
We are writing to share some difficult news
As the KUUJAN Board, it is our sad duty to inform you that, despite our fundraising efforts this spring, we have failed to raise sufficient funds to continue to pay for the salary and benefits of our Coordinator. As a result of this shortfall, we had to make the very difficult and painful decision to terminate the role of Coordinator as a paid position effective July 1, 2025. We understand that this action will present some challenges going forward. It is our hope that we can use the discussions around KUUJAN’s focus, vision and structure that we have begun to help us adapt to this new reality.
Rus has been a driving force in KUUJAN for several years and we would have been nowhere near as effective or impactful without his leadership and guidance. We will all likely be called upon to help fill the gaps created by the termination of this position. The good news is that Rus intends to stay engaged with KUUJAN in a volunteer coordinator role in this interim (albeit at reduced hours) through the end of the calendar year . The board is also hopeful that there will be opportunities to create some grant specific positions that we will be able to offer Rus in the future.
Again, the KUUJAN Board wants to thank Rus for his tireless efforts on behalf of KUUJAN and he contributed to building a State Action Network in Kentucky. We
encourage you to reach out to Rus and thank him individually.
We look forward to working with you to chart the next chapter in KUUJAN’s justice efforts.
