Memorial Service- August 16th for Alan Bryant (Sandi’s husband)

With the help of Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, Sandi is planning to have her sister and some friends co-lead the service with her. Both Rev. Bruce (has another funeral obligation in Houston) and Rev. Emeritus Elwood will also be out of town.  Please let’s support Sandi and her family in sharing a tribute to the Alan on August 16th.

Born at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, Kentucky. Grew up in Liberty, Casey County, Kentucky with wonderful parents and had an Idyllic childhood in a classic, small rural Kentucky town. Played basketball and baseball for Liberty High School. Was on the only Liberty team to go to a Kentucky State Tournament in baseball.

Graduated from Centre College in Kentucky and University of Kentucky Law School. He was the first Centre College student to join the Peace Corps, and he served in Brazil.

Worked for Louisville/Commonwealth Title Company for 40 years; was general Counsel and Senior Vice President.

Loved real property law. Member of the Louisville Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, The American College of Real Estate Lawyers, CREL; member of the Graymoor-Devondale city council, and the Tuesday Volare Bar Club; recipient of the 2015 Legal Aid Award for “Outstanding Volunteer Attorney;” member of Vision LLC, a low income housing provider; a member of the board of directors of Brush Creek Cemetery Association of Casey County.

Loved Kentucky, springtime wildflowers– especially yellow trillium and lady slippers; walking on his land in Casey County; summer green; gardening; daffodils, peonies, and bamboo; lightning bugs and birds in the backyard, downhill skiing, his wonderful cats, fresh tomatoes, dinner with friends, baseball, the Louisville Title softball team, Germantown, and traveling with Sandi especially in Provence when lavender blooms.

He was preceded in death by the best parents in the world—Omer and Estelle Bryant, and his beloved daughter Christine Bryant Pierce who he missed each and every day. He is survived by his wonderful wife of 57 years Sandra Riley Bryant; his incredible, wonderful grandchildren Molly Kathryn Pierce and Jackson Riley Pierce; his brother Jan David Bryant (Grant’s Pass Oregon), his niece Penny Bryant (Santa Cruz, California); his niece Adrian Bradley (Colorado).He is also survived by his sister-in-law, brother-in-law and niece: Rayma, Oswald, and Rosalind Norton (Bellevue, Washington). Also surviving are his amazing cats: Yoshi, Delilah, Tucker, Oliver, Ditto, and grand cat Junie.

It was a good life. I smelled the flowers, felt the warm sun, and tasted the wine. My life has been a good journey filled with joy, happiness, beautiful memories, love, and wonderful caring friends. Thanks to all.
