Right before the outbreak of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln warned that “a house divided against itself cannot stand.” For centuries, religion has been used as a rationale for division, violence and oppression and it remains a polarizing force in our society today. Rev. Beisner will explore how the Universalist theology of UU minister Forrest Church and his vision of a faith that speaks to unity amid diversity might inspire us as we seek to peacefully and lovingly navigate our differences.
