People of faith embrace truth-telling that both recognizes the realities and facts of our world today, as well as its possibilities and opportunities for healing. Truth sets its bearers at odds with the current culture, which prefers the status quo of entertainment and avoidance. Truth disturbs and unsettles, but in the end it reveals, heals, clarifies, and liberates. Our work is to tell the truth in all that we do and say. Rev. Joe Phelps served as pastor of Highland Baptist Church for 22 years and is currently the Justice Coordinator for the Passionist Earth & Spirit Center.
