I hope this finds you well and that you have had a good summer. I am writing to let you know that our next Book-Club/Interfaith Study Group meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, when we will begin our review of THE ROAD TO MECCA by MUHAMMAD ASAD. Since this book is an autobiographical travelogue and not a book requiring particular expertise in Islam, members of our Group will be requested to lead the discussion of various segments of the book. Rev. Kathleen Owens has graciously agreed to lead the review of Chapters 1 – 4 of the book.
I am re-sending you an article on Asad’s life and work entitled “Muhammad Asad: a Jewish convert to Islam who devoted his life to serve Islam” by Saad Hasan. More articles on Asad can be found on Google. The latest edition of “THE ROAD TO MECCA” was published by our local publisher Fons Vitae in 2000. The book is also available at Amazon. Asad’s translation of, and commentary on, the Qur’an, entitled Message of the Qur’an is widely regarded to be the best one in English.

UPDATE:
This is a follow-up to my earlier email I am writing to let you know that the second discussion on THE ROAD TO MECCA by MUHAMMAD ASAD will be held on November 8, 2023.
Dr. Marcia Segal has kindly agreed to lead the discussion on Chapters 5 – 8 of the book.
Since a number of our Group members travel in December I would be thankful if you could let me know the dates of your travel in that month. The four Wednesdays in December are on the 6th,
13th, 20th and 27th of the month. If you are not able to attend any of these dates please do let me know.
