Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you well. It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to REV. KATHLEEN OWENS, Past Lead Minister of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego, as our Distinguished Guest Speaker in our Book-Video Club/Interfaith Study Group meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 (7.00pm – 8.30 pm.). YouTube videos of her two excellent sermons on Islam and Unitarian Universalism should be viewed prior to her presentation. The links to the videos are given below:

Sermon on “Heart and Hand: UU and Islam(2/23/2015)

TITLE OF PRESENTATION: “Embracing a Larger Truth: A Path to Deeper Wholeness”

BRIEF INTRO:   REV. KATHLEEN OWENS graduated from Starr King School for the Ministry in 2004 and was the assistant minister at Neighborhood UU Church in Pasadena for three years. She was then called as the associate minister at First UU Church of San Diego and served in that position for seven years before being called as their lead minister for another seven years.

Interfaith collaboration has been a long-time commitment within Rev. Kathleen Owens’ ministry. She has also always emphasized the role faith has in the public square, working for social justice, grounded in compassion. As a person of faith, she believes that faith must be a catalyst for change – in the way one lives and in the larger community, with the goal of becoming more compassionate, more open-minded, and acting for and creating more justice.

Please feel free to invite your friends to the meeting.

I look forward to seeing you on April 27, 2022.

Warm regards,

Riffat
